I am a dedicated and caring nanny with valuable experience working with both neurotypical and neurodivergent children. With two years of hands-on experience supporting autistic children aged 4 to 16 years, I possess a deep understanding of the complexities of autism and implement best practices to meet each child's unique needs. My ongoing training in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has equipped me with effective strategies for fostering a supportive and nurturing environment. My approach is always child-centered, prioritizing the individual strengths and requirements of each student. I have actively utilized team observations in my past roles to enhance the care and support provided, ensuring that each child receives personalized attention and guidance. In addition to my experience with special needs, I have also coached tennis for children aged 4 to 18. This role involved leading structured lessons for groups of up to 10 children, where I cultivated a fun and dynamic atmosphere that encouraged engagement and healthy competition. My coaching experience has honed my ability to capture children's attention and promote skill development, ultimately fostering a love for the sport. I am passionate about creating a positive impact in children's lives, nurturing their growth, and ensuring they thrive in both educational and recreational settings.
I have advanced experience working in a school for 2 years with neurodivergent children aged 4-17 years. In my past experience supporting individuals with additional needs, I have effectively utilised team observations to enhance the care and support provided to each student. In classrooms with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other additional needs, there is a broad spectrum of support required. I have found that understanding each child's unique triggers—whether related to noise, touch, or smell—is essential. By collaborating with my team, we conduct thorough observations to identify specific triggers and root causes of distress. This process allows us to tailor our approaches and interventions to meet the individual needs of each student. Building an in-depth, trusting relationship with students is crucial as it fosters an environment where they feel safe and understood. Through ongoing communication and observation, I am able to assess and adapt strategies that best support their learning and emotional well-being within the school setting.
I have been looking after children intermittently for 6 years. Through ongoing tennis coaching, specifically between the ages of 4-17 years old. I would conduct organised lessons to groups of approximately 10 children and their safety would be in my hands. I completed my Level 1 Tennis Qualification to ensure I was qualified to comfortably deliver these lessons with the First Aid knowledge, as well as being able to communicate with children in a fun and dynamic way. I furthered my experience with children by joining a school specifically to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Here, I discovered the joy of seeing an impact in my work to those more vulnerable in society. I had weekly ASD training supported by the school to increase my awareness of how to manage the unpredictable circumstances that arise in a neurodivergent school and importantly, how to connect with and support the children. I grew a lot over these two years and it fed my desire to continue my work with children which is something I would love to do in Australia.
I was History Academic Officer for my secondary school in Sixth Form. This necessitated forming attractive, educational clubs for secondary school ages; attending parents evening to represent the history department and collaborating with the Head of History to introduce new ways to involve people in the subject. At this time, I also tutored the subject for school kids who were struggling in the field for their GCSE’s. Here, I would go through exam papers, practice analytical technique and adjust my practice according to the child’s needs or worries. I am also adapt at tutoring English to GCSE and A-Level. I have a 2:1 Bachelors History Degree.
