Hi parents and carers! I grew up in a family that fostered children for 12 years in the UK, so have been surrounded by young people from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of need from a young age! I went on to graduate with a degree in Psychology and adopted caring roles along the way: working in a children’s residential home, schools, nurseries, holiday clubs, and carrying out therapeutic work with patients. I have been living in Aus for a year now and would love to help out with your children. I have been working in hospitality during this and have really missed how rewarding and fun working with young people can be!
I have completed several courses and training on working and communicating with individuals with different learning difficulties and needs. This has included working with those who have experienced adverse childhood experiences, as well as neurodiversity such as autism spectrum disorder.
I have worked with children from a young age, with my first paid work with children being a leader at a holiday club when u was 16! I am confident caring for children of all ages, needs and abilities.
I volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged children for a charity in the UK, mostly teaching science and maths. I also worked as a teaching assistant for 6 months just after graduating university. During this I worked with small groups who were struggling to develop teaching resources and adapt teaching styles. I also worked closely with a child experiencing selective mutism and helped her develop confidence to speak to me , facilitating her learning.
