Hello! I’m from the Philippines and Hong Kong. I grew up in both countries and speak 5 languages. I am currently a 3rd year student at UNISA studying Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. I also own a beauty business for after hours. I have experience in childcare, OSHC, babysitting and tutoring. I also have my WWCC, first aid CPR, asthma & anaphylaxis training (childcare settings), RAN training up to date and relevant checks to work with children as well as SIDS (Safe Infant Sleep) certified. I can work with children from birth to 14 years old. I have my full Australian driving license and have a 7-seater SUV for school drop offs. I am confident in my cooking skills and am more than happy to cook children’s meals and prepare their lunchboxes. I am comfortable with dogs and cats as I own 2 cats myself and adore dogs. I would prefer to have set working hours (anytime from 6am to 5:30pm during weekdays) and my Friday and Saturday nights are available for parents wanting to have date nights. I can also do overnight stays.
I have been looking after children since I was a teenager such as babysitting for extra cash. Since coming to Australia, I have worked in OSHC for over 2 years and in childcare casually for 3 years. I am comfortable with children from conception to 14 years old. I have also worked in Montessori and Reggio Emilia settings for those wanting specific philosophy for their children’s development. I enjoy working with children as I get to relive my childhood memories and develop bond easily with children.
I have tutored a few children in Hong Kong. It’s an academically challenging country that emphasizes high grades and standards to pass examinations from primary to high school. Having experienced that and coming to Australia was a complete culture shock. The content taught in Hong Kong is significantly difficult as children are taught to read and write at the age of 3. I have developed the patience to teach a child in a friendly and gentle manner and scaffolding them to equip themselves with the right tools to learn. By incorporating my knowledge and experiences from all 3 countries’ education system, I would be able to adapt my tutoring methods and strategies to help your child enjoy learning.
